Dr. Mariano, I am writing to express interest and support for your ocean current mapping project. It would be a great benefit to my education and outreach activities at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City if I could view and download information about global ocean circulation patterns. I help produce HD video educational media distributed to audiences at museums around the US with a potenetial viewership of over 10 million and would like to use ocean circulation animations to illustrate the transfer of energy by the ocean and atmosphere on a planetary basis. Good luck with your efforts, and feel free to forward this note to your potential funders as a letter of support. Hi, here comes some questions from sweden again. We really appreciate your answer last time, Arthur. It helped us alot! I hope you can answer these as good. How comes that the specific compound "water" became such important for biological life on earth? We know that many aspects are concievable but can you mention a few? Maybe there are another similar compound that reacts and works in a similar way, for example propanone? In the presentation we consider to make an experiment to proof why water is so good on earth and we'd like to compare with propanone. Do you have a sugestion or do we think in the wrong way? greetings from Sweden! Helena and Bejal

This site is really interesting. I hope this project would be continued and other currents would be filled up.

Excellent site. I once comber the Encyclopaedia Britannica for everything it had on oceans and seas and it isn't a fraction of this site's resources. One tip I'd give to the readers on here is to keep the glossary open in another tab. Excellent stuff, a work of art and love.

Thank you very much for sharing the knowledge of the Antarctic Coastal Current. It seems that it may account for much of the ice-loss activity, particularly around the West antarctic Peninsula. If I am off-base in this, I would appreciate being set straight. Again, thank you!

Impressive site with lots of useful data. I am considering an extended ocean-journey in a private boat, and detailed knowledge of surface-currents is very helpful. I've yet to find an exact explanation of the symbols used though - but I'll keep looking! ;-) Thanks!

The graphic was good, the site did contain useful information, even more than I needed. I also wanted to know about how the cold water comes down east coast of North America to effect the amount of snow they have in the winter.

I was looking for overview maps of the currents in the north and south Atlantic but you don't seem to have these. However it looks like this will be a really useful site when complete.

This sight wasn't really helpful to me, I was looking at the South Equatorial Current and how it effects the EAC. And there was no information. So that was a downer
